Randomness

Went to see HP7 Friday night. It made me wish that movies 4-6 had also been split into two parts because the pacing was just right. And more stuff could be included. I was a bit disappointed that the scene between Dudley and Harry was left out & I wished we could have had a glimpse of Luna's bedroom. Also I thought the Hermione torture scene was toned way down. (I know they were just trying to keep the PG-13 rating, but honestly, I don't think this is a "kids" movie any more--probably hasn't been since OotP.)

Hermione Obliviting her parents was heart-wrenching. I liked the way they handled Hedwig's untimely demise better than in the book. I loved the 7 Potters. As someone else on my f-list said, Dan in a lacy bra is made of win. LOVED the actor they got to play Bill. The scene in the Ministry was awesome. (I was disappointed they didn't have at least a throwaway line about Mad-Eye's eye.) The camping scenes were well done. Loved Hermione and Harry dancing together. Loved the doe Patronus. Loved heroic Ron.

Everything to do with the Death Eaters was awesome. Malfoy Manor, the long table, Lucius, Narcissa & Draco all trying not to look terrified and failing. Voldemort snapping the snake head off of Lucius' wand.

Snape...OMG. AR is made of sex. Even though Snape is only in the movie for like 5 minutes--every moment was golden. AR can show so much with just the twitch of a facial muscle--the flash of compassion in his eyes, quickly veiled, when Charity Burbage was begging him for help---GUH. There was billowing robes, too. (They better have all of Snape's story in Part 2--although I'm already nervous about that because Harry didn't find the torn in half picture of his father in Sirius' room.

Loved the twins. "We're identical!" BWAH! So funny. And so very touching when Fred comforted George on the sofa.

Brave Neville on the train--"Hey, losers!"--foreshadowing, much? Hee. I love Neville.

Bathilda Bagshot was creepy/scary. OMG, I almost peed myself when Nagini shot out of her--even though I knew it was coming.

I liked the Apparating effect.

Dobby's death made me weep. Just like in the book.

And I was right about where they split the story, which made me smug.

I am having my son and his family over for Thanksgiving. My turkey is in the brine, the apple pie is made and frozen (to be baked Wednesday) and tonight I'm making a pumpkin cheesecake. YUM. Tomorrow I'll make the dressing and the sweet potato casserole, to be baked Thursday while the turkey is resting. My son is bringing pumpkin pie, mashed potatoes and rolls. I'm looking forward to a fine, relaxing day--and I hope to be able to watch the parade this year.

Hubby and I are working Friday. They tempted us with holiday pay (double time, I think) so we're going in for six hours.

Hubby wants to get a live tree this year. So, Saturday he is enlisting my son to go fetch one. (Meeps!)

I utterly failed at NaNo. I got so behind, I gave up. Not on the story--I like what I have written so far and plan to continue it. But, I will fail this year on the whole word-count thing. Perhaps I'm not really a writer after all?

That's it for now, kids. Off to work.
