I hate clothes shopping

In fact, if I thought I could make a go of it, I'd open a store stocked with stylish clothes for XXXL sized women. No big floral prints, no tapered pants, no capris.

Oh, and dresses which flair out and hide a multitude of sins. Beautiful, beaded floaty dresses. And tops which are longer than 25 inches...to cover said sins. And slacks that come in more than one length. Yes, there are tall fat people!!

Yeah, so the dress I wanted to get for my daughter's wedding is not available until May 16. Not good. So I went with my second choice:

...which is pretty, but I had to buy it large enough for my enormous hips so I'm really afraid the shoulders will be way too big. The pitfalls of being pear-shaped. I'm crossing my fingers.

I did, however, get a fabulous deal on it because I had a coupon code which got me 25% off the most expensive item (the dress) AND 30% off the second most expensive item (the shoes). So, go me!

I had to put a rush delivery on it so I get it in a few days...hopefully that will give me time to exchange it if it doesn't fit.

Wish me luck.

Pretty! I don't do dress up. Good thing I don't have kids then, huh? There is a shop in the next town called "Women of Substance" that has sizes 16 and Grander. They have beautiful stuff, and when I do have to get something that isn't from the men's department, that's where I go.

Do they have a website? And yeah, I usually don't do "dress up" either--but it's kind of expected for the Mother of the Bride. The picture thing will probably kill me or drive me insane. The things we do for our kids. heh.

No website that I know of. They're a local store, not part of a chain or anything. They have lovely jewelery, and a selection of "independent women" oriented bumper stickers and pins.
