The Amazing Race...is BACK!!
After the abomination that was the Family Edition, I have to admit that I was concerned when I tuned in tonight for the season premiere of The Amazing Race 9.
I should not have worried. The show I fell in love with is back and better than ever.
I have to say, the helicopter shot of Phil standing on the roof of a building in Denver gave me chills. Then the teams being introduced while riding in the beds of pick up trucks on their way to Red Rock Amphitheatre. Gorgeous countryside there.
"Glam-Azons?!? Ugh, I hate it when teams nickname themselves. I like Jon and Scott's nickname better: the Frosties. Hee.
My pre-hate goes to the Pinks (two scantily dressed women with the same name. *eye roll*) and Lake and Michelle (type A personality and his wife.)
My pre-love goes to friends BJ and Tyler (of the orange pants and great attitudes), Fran and Barry (the older team) and Dave and Lori (the "Nerds") we'll see how my judgements hold up during the show.
Love the phrase from Wanda or Desiree: "We're gonna Salsa our way to the pit stop." Hee.
OMG, Phil's eyebrow pop almost reached the sky! Mmmmmmmm, Phil. And then, the magic words:
"The world is waiting for you..."
Okay, the pre-hate for Lake is proving to be correct... read the clue! "I didn't mess up at all." Yeah, famous last words there, buddy. Back from commercial and "It was partially my fault." Partially?? Since YOU didn't read the clue, and YOU suggested calling the airline to reserve seats--I'd say that counts as ALL YOUR FAULT. Dumbass.
(Hubby laughing out loud from the bedroom--watching MST3K)
Lori to Dave: I love you! I'm really hot (she meant as in sweaty.) Dave to Lori: Yeah, you are! Love them!
Lake introducing himself to Ray: Lake, like the ocean. Ray to Lake: Ray, like the sun.
OMG Phil is so hot. Whew.
Random quote: "All you've got to do is not be lost."
Word hate: Andele. Isn't that a made-up word? Besides, the people of Sao Paulo speak Portugese, not Spanish.
The Hotel Unique is awesome.
Lori and Dave's "Nerd Handshake" made me giggle. I officially love them.
Oh, geeze...Fran and Barry walked by the clue box on the bridge three times.
Of course, the Pinks try to flirt with the men to get them to build the motorcycle for them. HATE.
Lake: "Don't second-guess me." HATE.
I really love it that most of the teams are saying how much they are enjoying the experience. (I would love to ride in a helicopter one day.)
I really admire how Ray kept it together when all those guys were gathered around leering and making crude remarks about Yolanda. You could tell he just wanted to beat the crap out of them.
Oh shit, do Monica and Joseph's tee shirts really say "Mo-Jo"??? *eye roll*
9:25pm, me yelling at the tv: "God, Barry and Fran, just go do the damned helicopter task!"
Oh, damn. Lisa and Joni (the Frosties) are screamers. Oh, and guys? Jesus doesn't really care whether or not you win a reality show. He's got other, more important things to worry about these days.
Awww, Barry and Fran on the helicopter were soooo romantic.
9:41pm: Me, asking Jesus to let the Frosties come in LAST as they whine about not being able to find a taxi.
Jeannie power?!?
Aaanndd the winners of the first leg...the buff all-male team, natch. Ten Grand? EACH?? Nice. I'm glad that BJ and Tyler came in second, though. Wanda and Desiree third. YAY!! Dave and Lori, my lovable nerds are fourth. Asshole, er-Lake and his wife fifth and Mo-Jo sixth. Ray and Yolanda were seventh and OMG, here come Fran and Barry in eighth!! Whew. Ugh, the Pinks are ninth and survive to irritate me another day.
And proving that, like I said, Jesus simply does not care about reality shows, here come the Frosties in tenth.
And awwww, John and Scott (the cute gay guys) are the first team eliminated. But their parting words are so sweet, and they seemed to get a lot out of their very brief TAR experience. I mean, really:
"I won the key to the door to the rest of my life." How great is that?
All in all, an awesome show. Can't wait for next week!

I'm so glad the new shows are starting again. I was getting so sick of reruns. :)

For me, it's a toss up between the Frosties and the Pinks. Oh, and Lake and his wife.
Can't wait until next week!
