rayvyn2k: Woohoo Snape (Woohoo Snape)
Well, we finally have all of our stuff moved into the "new" apartment. We went through all of the boxes and we "found" lots of things we had forgotten we had. We also bought a new desk and a bookcase. Both hubby and I have been missing our books, most of which we had left packed because we "thought" we would be moving into a house before now. But since we had to move anyway, we decided to bring out a few things to make this place feel more "homey". We have also decided to put up some Christmas decorations this year which we didn't do last year. It has made all the difference. This apartment already "feels" warmer than the old one did.

My hubby and his dad moved most of the big stuff. I cleaned the old place and sorted out stuff as it came into the new place. I still have lots of stuff to go through, but will be doing that this week and taking my time while doing it.

As I mentioned, during the move we found some things we had forgotten about. We both found some video games we hadn't played in a while. I found the "Lord of the Rhelm" game which is about ten years old. It's a computer game, and I threw it in the machine and then quickly remembered why I loved it so much! It's just the kind of game I like--strategy with an option for the computer to fight your battles for you, heh. I've been playing it like a fiend.

I've got to go file for unemployment today, change the address at the post office (and buy stamps), go to the grocery store (gonna make hubby's favorite dinner tonight as a surprise and to thank him for all of his hard work this past weekend) and then try to get a few more things done around here. Whew. For someone who's not working, I'm working awfully hard. heh.

I'm hoping to get some writing done while I'm off work--maybe next week?

Cross-posted at Delphi forums:

I tried to change our address online at usps.com and they say they have no record of the old address or the new address (the SAME friggin' address except the apartment number) in their database. Grr. That means I have to mail in the change of address form. racka fracka. Oh, and I still have no phone service--at EITHER place. I asked them to change the service to the new place but to leave it on at the old place, they switched it off at the old place and haven't turned it on at the new place yet. So, no phone service...and it's been this way for a week. I emailed BellSouth today.

In other news...I got an offer letter from State Farm today!! Woohooooo!! I still have to take a drug test and pass a background check, but that should not be a problem...so it looks like I'll be employed again in January. Whew. I also applied for unemployment today, they said it takes about two weeks, but unless my old company fights the claim, I should get something. IF that comes through, we should be able to go to Florida for Christmas...but I'm not counting on that YET.

We put up some Christmas decorations, a small, fibre-optic-lighted tree and a wreath I made before we left Florida, so the new place looks festive. We also bought a new desk which is very modular. We bought a new bookcase too, because both of us were missing our books. I have all my Harry Potter books and all of my reference books nearby and feel much better now!
