Get some groceries. (or not)

Vacuum the carpet.

EEK!!

OMG, I'm so excited!!

Yay!! Finished!

Got an email from my daughter yesterday. She had her sonogram and she's going to have another little boy! They have decided to name him Maximus...they haven't decided on a middle name yet. I suggested Gregori. Maximus Gregori, a good Roman name. ;)

The OTHER good news is that my sister is coming here for a visit in only two weeks!

OMG, have I got some cleaning to do...

I am so happy and excited I can't stand it. She's coming in Friday the 20th and leaving the following Monday. Yay!!

In other news, we heard from FSIL yesterday, and they have removed the restraints from my MIL although she is still being kept sedated. She is not thrashing around like she was, so that's an improvement. Hubby and I will be heading on over there later today and I will have another report later.

Only 13 more days until my sister is here!

*runs around in circles, squealing*

My Baby Sister, Beth!

A sister is a forever friend.

In 1964 [edited to say that Mom says it was 1963-what do you know-my sis didn't correct me, heh], I got the best birthday present ever. On August 15, just two days before my birthday, my little sister was born. Until I moved to TN, we shared our birthday every year--and it is a tradition that I really miss--so much more than I ever imagined I would. Maybe next year the stars will align properly and we can be together on our birthdays again.

As part of her gift, she asked me to put together a picture post like I did with my brother and father.

Well, Beth-- be careful what you ask for! )

But, seriously.

Beth~~I love you so much. I miss you even more. If our "sister ESP" is working, you know that already. I hope your birthday gave you as much joy as you've given to me all these years.

You're my best friend, my closest ally, my sweet sister.

Since I'm not working and my life has gotten extremely boring, this update will feature some pictures of my sister and her hubby and their newest family members. (After which I will be addressing Christmas cards! Can you stand the excitement???)

So, onward! Cute pics await you behind the cut )

Whew.

Seriously, the past few days were the worst I've spent in recent memory. The pain was awful. Luckily, the dentist's office called me on Thursday afternoon to check on me and when they discovered how much pain I was still in, the dentist called in stronger pain meds and antibiotics for me. Hubby went and picked them up and, although the pain was still bad, I didn't care as much.

The next day the dentist called my manager to explain why I was still out which was fantastic, because my manager then called me and left a message that my being out wasn't going to cause me any problems at work.

I feel so much better now, thankfully.

Yesterday I went and got my hair cut (it's been looking really scraggily for ages) and the stylist said it was really damaged on the ends. She cut off about five inches and now it is just below my shoulders and is layered. It is shorter than I expected, but I have to say it looks much better. I also treated myself to a pedicure. My toes look so pretty now!

My hubby is a ham radio operator and went to a thing called "Field Day" yesterday. The hams set up and try to contact as many other hams from around the world as they can. He stayed late and didn't realize until he got home at like 2:30am that he'd forgotten his apartment key. His knocking didn't wake me up (the bedroom is in the back of the apartment and the door was closed), so he called and left a message on the answering machine (I didn't hear it because the phone is in the living room). So when I got up and didn't see him I figured he had spent the night over there..I was grumbling to the cats that I had asked him to call if he was going to spend the night...then I noticed the message light blinking. I played the message which said he couldn't get in and was out in the car. I threw on a tee shirt and went outside and sure enough, there he was in the car. I got him up and brought him in and he collapsed in the bed. He is only going to sleep until about one because otherwise he won't be able to sleep tonight.

My sister has been is Las Vegas this past week, I can't wait to hear all about her trip.

Guess that's all for now.

...with my wonderful sister, who called me after reading the latest entry here. She and I talked for a long time about just about everyone in the family and then some. She really cheered me up and made me feel so much better.

I still wish I was going home for Christmas, though.

My sister is back in FL, my hubby started his new job, and I'm finally updating again.

The weekend was fantastic. My sister arrived on Thursday night and we headed to Ruby Tuesday's to meet my hubby for dinner. Much laughter and good food ensued. Afterwards we came back here, introduced her to our kittens and watched the Olympics for a while before heading to bed.

Friday dawned gray and rainy. We puttered around the house for a bit, got showered and dressed and headed to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. My sister couldn't decide, so we each got something different and shared. It was nice to have a taste of all different things.

After breakfast we headed to Nashville and the Parthenon. http://www.nashville.gov/parthenon/
It is an awesome structure and we love to take first-timers there. It had stopped raining by the time we arrived. Pictures were taken outside and then we headed in. There was a cool exhibition of Olympic art/photography in their gallery (not to mention their awesome permanant collection) to see and then we headed upstairs to see the statue of Athena.

It is awesome. Standing there looking up, one can imagine why the ancients believed the gods (and goddesses) were present in their temples. If you ever get a chance to visit Nashville, stop by the Parthenon.

After we had looked at everything inside, we went out to the manmade pond and fed the ducks some bread I had brought with us. They were fun and cute and we enjoyed that too.

Then it was into the car and off to my in-laws' house in the country. We arrived and showed my sister where our house is eventually going to be built, then we took her to the farm. She was impressed, and my MIL fed us BBQ and all the fixins. We visited for a bit and then went back home.

More Olympics and then early to bed.

Saturday, we got up and ready early, stopped by Sonic for breakfast and then headed to the Wilson County Fair. http://www.wilsoncounty.com/fair/
We walked all around looking at the animals and stuff. Then we sat and listened to a bit of the bluegrass guitar picking competition. Hubby spotted his grandfather in the crowd and we said hello and introduced my sister. Then it was off to see more stuff...bunnies, chickens, cows, etc---and we rode some of the rides and ate some fair food. (mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, fair food) We were there for hours...just doing fair stuff. We left before the demolition derby and came back here for more Olympics! We got take out food and talked and talked. We didn't want it to end, but it had to. We went to bed, sad because my sister was leaving the next morning.

Sunday morning--we got up and my sister got showered and packed. We went to Cracker
Barrel again (YUM!) for a last breakfast with my sister before taking her to the airport. Then we took her there, and dropped her off...I was so sad. *sigh* On the bright side, it was a fantastic visit and I am going to Ft. Lauderdale next month to visit my family again!

I guess this went much longer than I intended.
I miss my sister so much!

Today is my beloved sister's birthday! I miss her so much, this is the first time in many, many years that we have not celebrated our birthdays together (mine is in a couple of days, ever since we were kids we have celebrated together).

She is coming to visit next weekend, though, so that takes some of the sting out... but I am still very blue today.

I wish someone would hurry up and invent a transporter, so I could visit whenever I wanted to without having to buy an airline ticket or drive for two days.

So, Happy Birthday my darling little sister--I love you more than I can say!

Whew

Well, the hurricane went ashore south of my Dad's house. I'm sorry for everyone who was in it's path, but selfishly, am glad my Dad was not one of them. He said they just got a bunch of rain, and no wind at all to speak of.

Even though I missed out on a visit from him, I'm glad he went home...better safe than sorry.

My sister is coming up next weekend...I can't wait! We celebrate our birthdays together every year(because they are on the 15th and the 17th), and this year the celebration will be just a couple of days late. I am so excited, it'll be great to see her.

I am sending off my application for a "vanity" license plate...hope I get the one I want.

I won't say until/unless I get it.

Guess that's all for now.
