So, it's officially eight books read this month. Not a bad average.

I don't know if this is a result of the reading (don't think so) but I've had a headache all damned day. It got so bad I had to leave work and sit at home in the dark cuddling the kitties.

*sigh*

I can still feel it lurking, so I'm off to bed. Going to try working again tomorrow and hoping a bit of extra sleep helps.

Love to all.

It's definitely eight. The most recent is a Marvel comic collection that was a gift from Hubby on Wednesday.

He's so good to me!

The book is Deadpool Volume 1 Dead Presidents. The link goes to a review of the trade paperback, but hubby got me the hardcover!

I became interested in Deadpool via Marvel Puzzle Quest a very cool game that I play on my tablet. (If any of you play or decide to, friend me on Facebook so we can send stuff to each other. IM me for the FB name.)

One of the characters I got early on was Deadpool, and his personality just comes through so well in the game that I did some research online to learn more about him. He's pretty psychotic, but funny as hell. He is a mutant, but not part of the X-Men really, he works more on his own or with SHIELD who only uses him when they don't want the Avengers involved. He has the healing factor like Wolverine, but way more. I mean, the guy has been decapitated and healed himself, so... pretty awesome healing factor.

This book has zombies and Necromancers and Dr. Strange...and waaay more evisceration than I'm usually comfortable with, but Deadpool is so hilarious about it all that I try not to look too hard at the gross bits.

So, I should be finished with this before the end of the week.

I'm also reading the Jasper Fforde book I mentioned in a previous entry, so depending on how much reading time I put in, it could be nine in January.

Not too bad.

Finished the Ian Rutledge "Confession" last night. At 1:00. AM. *sigh* I love those stories. I also love how the culprit isn't revealed until nearly the last page. And the books are constructed to make you think "just one more chapter" until you've run out and you're sitting there wishing you had another.

The next one in the series is 10 bucks for the e-book ATM, so not getting that one as much as I'd love to.

I bought two last night: Jasper Fforde's The Last Dragonslayer which is the first in a series with two others finished and the last one a WIP. Only 1.99. Jasper Fforde is pretty much an auto-buy for me so I'm not sure why I never picked this one up before.

The other book I bought is: Clapton: The Autobiography and it was also 1.99 for the e-book. I have been reading lots of autobiographies about rock stars in the last few years. Read all the Motley Crue books, Slash's book and a few others I don't recall right now.

It was 1 AM and I found two for 1.99, so I call that a win. So, my count might be 8 for January if I get through one of these. :)

I have decided that, in order to inspire me to post more, I'm going to keep track of, and share the titles and a brief comment of the books I read this year with you, my tiny audience.

Last year, I decided to take a break from my beloved Regency romances (they can start to seem the same after a couple of hundred or so), and I discovered two new-to-me authors and their fantastic books.

So far this year (since January 1), I've read six books and am in the middle of a seventh.

Here we go! )

Unless I buy another book (which I won't until I'm finished with this one) it looks like it'll be 7 for January.

In other news: )

There is talk of an actual vacation this year...not just the usual trip to the Great Smoky Mountains or to see my folks in Florida. We'll see how that works out.

Guess that's all for now.
