I posted a substantially rewritten version of my 2010 [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange fic "The Wise Forgive"on AO3 tonight. (Or should I say this morning?? GAH.)

I worked on it for most of the day. I still cannot believe it was not sent back to me with admonitions to clean this mess up and submit it again.

I plead writer's block. And it was so late, the mods probably despaired of me ever turning in anything. So, they must have accepted it with a sense of pure relief that I'd actually finished it.

I will be forever grateful to them. Sincerely and utterly grateful. I did some of my best writing for that exchange, and I'm always so very proud to be represented among the other fantastically talented writers (and artists) who participated.

I hope to continue to post things there--trying to get back into the habit of writing. And I still owe [livejournal.com profile] islandsmoke her birthday gift. Which there is an idea or two rattling around...so hopefully it'll be on 'paper' soon.
rayvyn2k: cute icon (Cute Icon)
And I must thank [livejournal.com profile] iulia_linnea for the hilarious "The Caprine Intervention" which is one of the funniest stories in the entire exchange. Go, read, leave much love.

Also, I was lucky enough to get a beautiful gift of art, a scene from my story "Detours and Roadblocks" from the very talented [livejournal.com profile] dozmuffinxc titled "Just a note to say..."

My humble offerings were: "One Word Does All the Difference Make" for [livejournal.com profile] duniazade and,

"Lusty Lyrics" for [livejournal.com profile] madamsnape

I must thank my brilliant, wonderful, ever-patient beta, [livejournal.com profile] islandsmoke for all of her help with both of these tales. Her suggestions always make my stories so much better and, I appreciate her so much more because this is definitely NOT one of her favorite ships. Huge hugs, sloppy snogs and my humble thanks to her, always.

To those whose stories and art I haven't reviewed: I'm still reading...real life got in the way, but that is really okay because the exchange won't be officially "over" for me until I've read all the entries.

Thanks to everyone who participated, thanks to the BRILLIANT, beautiful and infinitely patient Mods and thanks for all the wonderful art, crafts and stories. This exchange is one of the best things about our ship. I love you all.

Genre: Drama, Angst
Summary: Plus ça change ... There's corruption everywhere, attitudes haven't changed much, and Auror Granger isn't making much headway, no matter how hard she tries to make the world a better place. And while she struggles to protect and improve the world she cares about, Lucius Malfoy is fighting to save the life of the one remaining thing that means anything to him: his son. Both of them need expert help, but the expert they need is difficult to find. When they do manage to unearth his whereabouts, the discoveries that follow lead to some startling revelations that will turn their expectations upside down.

Do not let the word count frighten you, my friends. This story is FANTASTIC. I spent several hours yesterday reading it in between readying my contribution to the Super Bowl party we are invited to.

It is wonderful. I am not a huge fan of angst, but this has just the right amount--and I can't even begin to describe how imaginative it is. One of my favs so far.

So, set aside a few hours and settle in for this gem of a novel.

Whew.

Finally finished the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange fic!! Huzzah! It's with my darling beta right now and I hope there's not too many things that need correcting.

I also did laundry, made 2 cakes and pudding (for this dessert I'm making for our team at work for Halloween), baked chicken for later in the week and made shepherd's pie. I also put some chocolate graham cracker crumbs thru the food processor as I am also making this triple chocolate cheesecake for the Halloween dessert contest at work.

And baby is NOT going to work that day, so who knows how the hell I'm going to get them both inside. ETA: Baby is keeping the car so dropping me off. That means he can help carry stuff in. Huzzah!

I am making the cheesecake tomorrow since it has to cool completely before the ganache goes on top. Then I'm adding a piped on spider web and white spider for decoration.

The kitty litter cake will be presented in a (new) litter pan as in the picture. Heh. That one will be assembled on Tuesday.

My costume is an orange tee shirt that says "This is my costume" on the front. Hee.

I'm happy to be finished with the exchange fic since my romance o-fic has been haunting me recently. I figure if hubby can go for his comic artist dream, I should go for the novel thing.

I'm exhausted, but in a good way. I'm going to be going over to the sofa in a minute and collapsing. :)

Dry Socket

That is the diagnosis. Dentist yesterday packed the hole with some stuff that made it feel better almost instantly. Was supposed to stay in place for nearly two weeks.

It came out last night. *sigh*

Going in again this morning and I'm going to ask if he can put a suture in to keep it in place. I have to get back to work tomorrow, no matter how I feel.

On the other hand, I wrote nearly 3k words on my exchange fic yesterday. And I've plotted it to the end. Surprisingly, there may not be hot sexxors in this one...which is unusual for me. I'll have to see if I can fit it in, but the way the story is going, not sure.

I think there'll be another 2-3k words to the end, and hopefully it will be finished and to the beta for the final look-over this weekend, which is a relief.

I restrained myself from signing up for any other fests this year--and a good thing, too. With all the health issues I've had, my depression is making it very difficult to write.

Many thanks and long, warm snogs to the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange mods, whom I love dearly.

Also...

rayvyn2k: Woohoo Snape (Woohoo Snape)
...worked on my Exchange fic today. Added 2k words. Go me! I like where the story is going. It won't be epic like [livejournal.com profile] mundungus42 's, but it's coming along nicely. I see it topping out at about 7-10k words.

Very happy about the writing. I was afraid I'd be too depressed about everything to continue.
rayvyn2k: cute icon (sshg fandom's best ship)
To the poor unfortunate soul lucky person who got mine, just a few words.

A happy ending is a MUST.

I love HOT sex, but if you're not comfortable writing or drawing it, no problem at all.

Please, not a bunch of angst. Conflict is fine (there wouldn't be a story without it, after all) but I don't want them to suffer needlessly. (Hasn't Snape suffered enough?)

I prefer them to be in character as much as possible, given the prompts I came up with. (Ahem.)

Have fun! Any questions, send to the mods, I'm very easy to please. :)

SQUEEEEEEEEE!!

A million thanks to [livejournal.com profile] dream_labyrinth who wrote An HP Cinderella which is practically perfect in every way! I love my gift and I encourage all my f-list to make with the clicky, read and show [livejournal.com profile] dream_labyrinth some love.

My humble offering was The Live Debt for [livejournal.com profile] melenka and features Lucius Malfoy as a romance writer...

There are LOADS of fantastic stories and art there, please go, read, review and love!

Edited to add: OMFG, I completely spazzed last night and forgot to thank the person who helped make my story so good... [livejournal.com profile] islandsmoke my fabulous beta! Seriously, without her suggestions and insight, this story would not be as good as it turned out.

Thank you for the hand-holding, the suggestions and the reassurance, [livejournal.com profile] islandsmoke. I don't know what I'd do without you.

My gift has been posted on the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange!!

An HP Cinderella

Someone finally has done the Cinderella prompt as a fic! I am over the moon. This gift is so wonderfully written--it's funny, sweet, snarky with a side of sexy. And a happily ever after!

I really enjoyed reading it and I want everyone on the f-list who likes HP to click the link, read and review.
rayvyn2k: cute icon (Default)
Today I am grateful for being home on a rainy day. Windows open all day! Also my crock pot. Amazing beef stew tonight.

Can't wait until tomorrow...the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange starts posting stories! SQUEEEE!!
rayvyn2k: cute icon (My license tag)
Day 20: Grateful for the PS3 getting knocked out long enough to spare me from watching my beloved Florida Marlins get spanked by San Diego last night. Grateful for Netflix which provided several short documentaries to pass the time instead.

Day 21: So, so very grateful that my muse seems to be back! *touch wood* I banged out the next chapter of "The Binding" tonight. Nearly 2k words in about four hours. *squee!* Also grateful for ice cream. YUM.

On the other hand--things I am not grateful for--vacation being over and work tomorrow. I am grateful I have a job--better than the alternative--but wish I could afford not to work at all.

I am so very excited about the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange! Heard a rumor the posting will begin the first week of September...even if not, it will be soon and I can't wait!
rayvyn2k: cute icon (facepalm)
...that the best ideas seem to come at the last minute?

ARGGGHHHHH!!!!

So excited

My [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange fic is coming along so well! My lovely beta (you know who you are!) has been such a HUGE help! Just pointing out small things...which makes me think harder and makes the story so much better.

I know the way to the end now...and I'm excited to finish the journey!

SQUEEE!!!

I have my assignment for the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange and I am a happy, happy girl. :)
rayvyn2k: cute icon (Default)
I got myself a set of new teeth. The first step in my road to regaining my smile. My teeth were sadly neglected all of my life until now, when it was too late. So, I finally took the step and made the appointment to get the upper denture done.

I've had it now for three days. Although my gums are still quite sore, overall, I can see improvement already. So, yay for doing something I should have done years ago.

Here's a pic I took yesterday: )

There are some awesome prompts over at the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange . I already have a couple of plot bunnies nibbling so fiercely on my brain that I've been scribbling ideas...

Have I told you yet how much I love that exchange?

In other news, Hubby, me and one of my Besties in TN are going to see Young Frankenstein next Saturday, the 14th. I can't wait! I am so grateful that my Bestie and me decided we were going to try to see two shows a year every year. :) I love the theatre so much, I would go much more often if I could afford to. (Well, now that I won't have such high dental bills, maybe I can!)

In OTHER other news, we are buying a new-to-us car. It is in Ohio, so we have to go get it, but it is a 2002 Buick LeSabre. Yep, another ten year old used vehicle. But a car I have always liked. I have rented them many times over the years and always loved driving that car. And I'm looking at this car as a stepping stone to the next one. We looked and honestly cannot afford a car note right now. We want to pay off more of the house note first.

But, I told my hubby I want a brand new car before I die. ;)

I am toying with the idea of trying to visit London during the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Now, to convince hubby...

Happy Friday!

I uploaded my [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange fic, "The Wise Forgive" to the Ashwinder section of the Sycophant Hex archive.

I made a bunch of changes to the story before I posted it there--specifically adding a dance with Lucius Malfoy and taking out the public sex scene. Please check it out, I think it's much better.

The Wise Forgive

(Family members, the usual warnings apply. Read at your own risk. Naughtiness within.)
rayvyn2k: cute icon (Default)
And I rate Outstanding!

I achieved my goal of reading, viewing and reviewing every chapter of every story and all the art.

Go me!

The [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange reveals are up.
My gift from [livejournal.com profile] slytherinlaurel is Awake. Go, read and leave a properly squeeful review. It's lovely.
My humble offering for [livejournal.com profile] electryone82 is The Wise Forgive. It was a buggar to write, mostly due to author insecurity. But thanks to my gorgeous beta, [livejournal.com profile] islandsmoke's patience and encouragement, I was able to get it finished.

I want to thank the mods, [livejournal.com profile] scatteredlogic, [livejournal.com profile] shiv5468 and [livejournal.com profile] ginny_weasley31. And much thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mollyssister for the help she gives.

The [livejournal.com profile] exchange_bingo was fun, too. So thanks to [livejournal.com profile] christev, [livejournal.com profile] pokeystar and [livejournal.com profile] pyjamapants for keeping track of that game.

And, if someone chose as their prize a story from me, please let me know.

All in all, a wonderful three months or so. Can't wait until next year!

I did it!

I read and reviewed every chapter of every story and every piece of art posted at the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange.

The latest round was fantastic and I am going to miss my daily fix of SS/HG fic. I hope that the mods decide to do it again next year.

In other news, hubby and I are enjoying our house immensely. We had my sister visit for a week over my birthday and there is a rumor that my daughter and her family may come up for Christmas.

Squeee!
rayvyn2k: cute icon (sshg fandom's best ship)
Just wanted to say thank you so much to the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange mods and participants! The Winter exchange was and is fabulous. So much wonderful art and fic with our fav potions master--both dead and alive!

And a special thank you to [livejournal.com profile] laiksmarei who wrote a wonderful story for me which was so much more special since I did not expect a story or art all my own.

You can find the story here: Worth a Thousand Words
Rating: R
Warning(s): Adult language, A somewhat marginally more intelligent and mature Ron, Overindulgence in alliteration
Genre/Category: Angst, Drama, Friendship, Humour
Prompt: A failed marriage behind her, Hermione is the newest teacher at Hogwarts. She finds a close companion in, of all people, a portrait.

My own gift for [livejournal.com profile] lowlands_girl is Changing the Epilogue
Rating: R for one brief scene
Warnings: If you have read Deathly Hallows, nothing in this story will bother you. It is canon compliant—mostly.
Authors Notes: Many thanks to my betas who keep me from going off the deep end and taking the characters into places they should not go. I also want to thank the exchange mods who showed me the meaning of true patience.

For once, a story I don't have to really warn about since it's not really porn-y. (I KNOW!)
