Star Trek Beyond
Jul. 21st, 2016 10:59 pmHubby and I saw this movie tonight and we both loved it. Just a wonderful homage to The Original Series--which was my very first fandom. I co-wrote an original ST novel-length story, too. So, fanfic was in my blood since my late teens. Hee.
Karl Urban steals the moving IMO, he's absolutely perfect as Dr. McCoy. He has such great lines.
Zachary Quinto is channeling Leonard Nimoy, IMO. His Spock is a bit more emotional than Mr. Nimoy's, but I like it.
Speaking of Leonard Nimoy, his presence is felt in many ways during the film. They did a nice job of honoring him.
Seeing Anton Yelchin was so bittersweet.
Chris Pine really comes into his own as Kirk. I really believed him this time...which I didn't really in the other two films.
There's so much humor in it too. I won't spoil the jokes, but there was lots of laughter throughout.
I hate that every damn ST movie has to destroy the Enterprise.
You don't have to sit through ALL the credits at the end, just to the point after the acknowledgement of the star's names.
If you like The Original Series, you'll love this movie. I did.
