Spent all day packing. The more I sort, pack, and stack--the more I find that still needs to be packed. *flails*

The kitchen stuff is almost entirely packed. Only the pots and pans and plastic stuff left. The DVDs and videos are packed. The breakables are mostly packed.

I have found more yarn than I ever knew I owned...many half-finished projects that were stuffed into a bag and forgotten. I ruthlessly unraveled them and wound the yarn into balls...and filled a HUGE under the bed container and STILL had enough to fill a plastic bag. And that doesn't even take into consideration the cross stitch projects.

NEEDLE WORK FAIL on an epic scale.

And, apparently, every time I bought yarn for a new project, I bought a new crochet hook, too. I have at least ten. Many in the same size. *sigh*

I look around and see that the CDs need to be packed, the desk needs to be sorted, organized and packed, there are drawers to be gone through and ... *flails again*

It's too much.

I have a feeling that moving day (hopefully a week from today for the big stuff) is going to be a lot of throwing crap into boxes just to get it out of the apartment.

Isn't that what most moving days are like...ISN'T IT???

Going to breakfast with hubby tomorrow morning and going to buy a new sewing box...the one I have that used to be my grandmother's (which is a huge plastic thing) is broken beyond repair and yes, I have more thread, buttons, needles and pins than anyone needs--so I need a place for them. I told hubby I do not want a fishing tackle box--I want a proper sewing box. So, after breakfast, we're going to the local craft/hobby store to see if they have something suitable. Then we're picking up the anniversary gift we gave each other--the Monty Python 16 Ton Megaset --and then coming home to even more packing. I'm sure we'll be watching the Pythons as we go.

Off to bed.

Cross-posted at Delphi forums:

I tried to change our address online at usps.com and they say they have no record of the old address or the new address (the SAME friggin' address except the apartment number) in their database. Grr. That means I have to mail in the change of address form. racka fracka. Oh, and I still have no phone service--at EITHER place. I asked them to change the service to the new place but to leave it on at the old place, they switched it off at the old place and haven't turned it on at the new place yet. So, no phone service...and it's been this way for a week. I emailed BellSouth today.

In other news...I got an offer letter from State Farm today!! Woohooooo!! I still have to take a drug test and pass a background check, but that should not be a problem...so it looks like I'll be employed again in January. Whew. I also applied for unemployment today, they said it takes about two weeks, but unless my old company fights the claim, I should get something. IF that comes through, we should be able to go to Florida for Christmas...but I'm not counting on that YET.

We put up some Christmas decorations, a small, fibre-optic-lighted tree and a wreath I made before we left Florida, so the new place looks festive. We also bought a new desk which is very modular. We bought a new bookcase too, because both of us were missing our books. I have all my Harry Potter books and all of my reference books nearby and feel much better now!

Well, we finally have all of our stuff moved into the "new" apartment. We went through all of the boxes and we "found" lots of things we had forgotten we had. We also bought a new desk and a bookcase. Both hubby and I have been missing our books, most of which we had left packed because we "thought" we would be moving into a house before now. But since we had to move anyway, we decided to bring out a few things to make this place feel more "homey". We have also decided to put up some Christmas decorations this year which we didn't do last year. It has made all the difference. This apartment already "feels" warmer than the old one did.

My hubby and his dad moved most of the big stuff. I cleaned the old place and sorted out stuff as it came into the new place. I still have lots of stuff to go through, but will be doing that this week and taking my time while doing it.

As I mentioned, during the move we found some things we had forgotten about. We both found some video games we hadn't played in a while. I found the "Lord of the Rhelm" game which is about ten years old. It's a computer game, and I threw it in the machine and then quickly remembered why I loved it so much! It's just the kind of game I like--strategy with an option for the computer to fight your battles for you, heh. I've been playing it like a fiend.

I've got to go file for unemployment today, change the address at the post office (and buy stamps), go to the grocery store (gonna make hubby's favorite dinner tonight as a surprise and to thank him for all of his hard work this past weekend) and then try to get a few more things done around here. Whew. For someone who's not working, I'm working awfully hard. heh.

I'm hoping to get some writing done while I'm off work--maybe next week?

We are still in the process of moving our stuff. Hubby's dad will be over on Friday to help him move the heavy stuff.

We have gotten the kitchen, bathroom and most of the bedroom stuff moved. Also the computer (natch) the tvs, vcrs and the stereo. We bought a new computer desk which is minimalist--to say the least.

It's getting really cold (to me) again.

I need to go file for unemployment, but I really don't want to--I don't know why. I guess I'll have to go do it tomorrow.

The management here offered to pay our transfer fees, but then said $100...which won't quite cover it, but it's nice of them to offer.

I want to put up my little Christmas tree this year...I wonder how long it will take the kittens to knock it down? I think I'll just put non-breakable ornaments on it and save myself some headaches.

I miss my work friends. I thought I'd made "real" friends there, but I've only heard from a couple of them since I was fired. That really sucks, since I'm kind of low in the "real life" friend department here in Tennessee. I have loads of online friends, but very few otherwise--so I really miss the ones who are "gone".

I hope I hear from State Farm soon--one way or the other. I don't like being in limbo like this.

Guess that's about all for now. (I warned you that nothing really was happening.)

Our Thanksgiving was very busy. I have to start on Wednesday. Our sink backed up and I called the manager who got the maintenence guy over here. He sucked all the yukky water out of the sink and poured some chemicals down it. Didn't work. So they called a plumber to come snake the drain. At around four o'clock, the plumber got here and started the snaking. Well, the snake never came out of the other end of the drain. The maintenence guy came in and said the pipes had rotted through and the only way to get to them was to jackhammer the floor in the hallway between the bedroom and the bathroom. Because the job is a long, involved mess, we have to move into another apartment. Oh, and can we be out by Monday?

Well, luckily the apartment is right across the breeze way from this one. That's the good thing. We told him no way can we be out by Monday, but maybe by next weekend. So yesterday morning, we took the cats and a few things over to the new place (because the maintenence guy had to come in here and run a pipe from the bedroom to the bathtub so the upstairs apartment can use their kitchen sink. It's draining in the bathtub.) so they could get settled. The kittens freaked out. They were really frightened (Kira-cat was all 'Shoot, across the hall? You all should try five states.') and were trying to hide everywhere. We brought our toiletries over and took our showers there. Then we took off for his folks' house. We had a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner and spent the day with his folks and his Granddad and Granddad's girlfriend. It was lovely. I received many compliments on my pies, but damn it, the friggin' pecan pie stuck to the pie dish!! WTF?? Is there some southern secret to making a pecan pie? C'mon, Southern f-listers-- Spill.

So, anyway, we came back and moved our bed and a tv and vcr into the "new" apartment. We had soup for supper and then popped in a Monty Python tape (no cable over there, which is why the computer is still here, heh) and after that we went to sleep. The kitties calmed down enough to come sleep in the bed with us--a first for the kittens. This morning they seem like they have gotten used to the place because they woke me up at six with their galloping around.

So, this weekend and next week will be spent moving. Luckily it's right across the hallway, because that means we can just walk a lot of it over without having to pack everything in boxes. Oh, and I forgot to say, we stopped by Wal-Mart last night on the way home (not venturing out today, my momma didn't raise no fools) and picked up a few things including a new desk. I'll take pictures as soon as we set it up. I told Hubby we have to run our coaxil cable out the window and into the other place and duct tape it to the sidewalk until the cable guy comes to transfer it. (Which I have to check their website to see if I can order that online.)--*called the cable company, they will be coming on Monday, yippee!)

So, that was our big holiday adventure. We're supposed to go meet his brother and family to ooh and ahh about their new house--which is in Lebanon and will be delivered to the property on Monday or Tuesday. Grr.
