Hubby and I finally watched season 2 last night in one gulp. That show continues to amaze, with both the writing and the acting. We love how the writers integrate Doyle's original into the modern show.

I went online (not a spoiler-phobe), and read about the season 3 opener and was happy to see that the writers seemingly gave a wink and a nod to the fans. Love that. We are going to record that ep tonight and watch it later this week.

I told hubby last night I need to see the Jeremy Brett episodes again. Jeremy will always be the 19th century Holmes for me, but Cumerbatch, I think, has to be a close second. The best part of both these versions, to me, (aside from the spot-on portrayal of Holmes) is the fact that Watson is well-served by Martin Freeman and Edward Hardwicke (more thanks to the writers). I always hated the way the Basil Rathbone/Nigel Bruce movies made Watson into a bumbling fool. He's a doctor for heaven's sake.

I particularly liked "A Scandal in Belgravia". I just loved the Irene Adler character (always have) and loved the fact that Holmes wouldn't get dressed to go to Buckingham Palace, and then Irene meets him nude.

And Andrew Scott's portrayal of Moriarty is just terrifyingly crazy. Brilliantly played.

But, you guys are all ahead of me, since you've seen S3 E1 and I haven't, so I'll stop my gushing and go dig out my well-worn edition of "The Complete Adventures of Sherlock Holmes".
