Had a lovely day with hubby yesterday. We didn't do much, just took a drive over to the Hickory Hollow area. He wanted to go to Michael's to get some India ink and brushes and I wanted to check Joanne's Fabrics to see if they had the material I need to make my daughter's wedding veil. We both found what we needed (I'm hoping this fabric will work, we'll see once I begin...oh, and who knew silver ribbon was so hard to find??)

After we were finished with our shopping, we went to TGIFridays and ordered their Jack Daniel's Trio appetiser along with loaded potato skins. The place was packed. Our waitress, a very cute girl with blond and pink hair, greeted us and warned us she was swamped. We just smiled and told her we were not in any hurry and ordered our beverages. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for another of her tables. Apparently, they had to wait what they considered an excessive time for their dessert. Not five minutes after we were seated, one of their party got up and with a "I'm leaving right now!" stomped away. The next thing I saw was the manager over at the table, apologizing I guess. Then their dessert came and they asked for boxes to take it away. The boxes were brought to the table along with their receipts...I think. Then they left. And after all that fuss...
they left their boxed up desserts on the table.
How fucking rude is that? They slag off the waitress and the manager about the "slow" service, then they leave their desserts behind? The bus boy just threw them away.
Unbelieveable.

Our food came very fast, and the waitress said something like, "If you're nice, your food comes out fast." And we mentioned to her that they had left their desserts...and she rolled her eyes and told us they had to wait for the dessert, but that she had explained they were slammed and the person who fixes the dessert also does other things...but they were just assholes about it all. Then she said something about karma and went off to check her other tables. She was sooo sweet, and she was a damned good waitress, too. Attentive, but not intrusive, just the kind of service we like the best. Hubby and I enjoyed our food very much and after we got the check, I said "Leave her five dollars" (our tab was 25.) My hubby hid the ticket from me as he was adding it up, and then he showed me...he had tipped her 10.00!! I added a note on it that we really appreciated her great service. We hope we made her day, because we sure did try.

After we got home, we both got lazy and played games for the rest of the night. Oh, and watched some of the Australian Open, too.

Today we are going to his folks' house for dinner and to watch a little football.

Only one more week until I start working again...unless I win the lottery. I'm not really looking forward to it, but I have to have a job if I'm not independantly wealthy so...ugh. Nope, not looking forward to working at all.
