Independence Day, 2013
Jul. 4th, 2013 09:56 pmWas a lovely day for us. It was raining all day which kept the fire cracker idiots from shooting them off until recently. (It's still raining, supposed to thunderstorm too later.)
I lounged around in my PJs until 8:30 when I put on some clothing in order to go outside with hubby and watch the city fireworks from our back deck. He brought along his Nook and played march music from John Phillip Sousa and others while we watched the display. Which the city must have moved from their original firing spot, because instead of being plainly visible, they went off mostly behind a huge tree. Still pretty, just...less visible. We did have a laugh, under the umbrella on the soaking wet deck chairs, with the Nook blaring music. Another good memory. I have to say I was disappointed not to find the Boston Pops Orchestra on TV this year. Had to go to YouTube to watch last year's. Love their annual rendition of the 1812 Overture.
I made chili cheese dogs, potato salad and baked beans for supper. Which means we'll have a wind section of our own later. ;)
Work tomorrow, but late shift, so we get to sleep in.
