Day 12:

In your own space, talk about what you bring to fandom. It can be something tangible, or not.

I'm not sure I know the answer to this one. I like to think I bring a bit of happiness with my writing in fests, etc. My stories mostly have happy endings and I try not to make them too angsty, mostly because I feel like there's way too much bad in the world today and I prefer to read/write things to take the reader away and make them feel good for a bit. Many (many) of my stories have loads of explicit sex in them, but my more recent ones have mostly dealt with forgiveness or healing broken relationships. I have no idea why.

I kind of feel like that question is not for me to answer, you know?

Day 13:

In your own space, talk about a creator. Show us why you think they are amazing.

This one is much easier. I have already recced several authors during this exercise, and I'll rec them again along with a couple more folks from whom I will read anything.

I will read anything she writes. I am hoping she is working on an original novel so she can tell her terrible bosses to shove it when she becomes a best selling author. And she will. My all-time favorite is Big Name Death Eater with The Beginner's Guide to Breeding Peacocks a close second. OMG, this woman can WRITE. BNDE has one of the best OCs EVER created, Good Ol' Smudger, whom I borrowed for my own story We'll Always Have Hogwarts.

She knows how much I adore her, and her writing. I wish she didn't have to deal with those wankers at her job so she could write more stuff for me to read. The 'adult' versions of her stories are archived at Ashwinder at Sycophant Hex, but that site is still having issues. You can also find her stuff under the [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange LJ, and she is an active participant in several prompt/gift fests (some of which are mentioned below).

Other authors who's stuff I love to read are [livejournal.com profile] islandsmoke, [livejournal.com profile] mundungus42, [livejournal.com profile] scatteredlogic, [livejournal.com profile] snegurochka_lee...

Oh and pretty much everyone on this masterlist from the gone-but-never-forgotten [livejournal.com profile] sshg_exchange. Also, [livejournal.com profile] wizard_love, [livejournal.com profile] sshg_promptfest & [livejournal.com profile] hoggywartyxmas.

I think that's enough for now, don't you?

Day 14:

In your own space, post recs for at least three fanworks that you did not create.

See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser-known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom who maybe aren't well-known or appreciated.

My problem is that I mostly read the fics posted in the fests I participate in. So, I've already recced those in the previous entry. There are a bunch over at Sycophant Hex that qualify, but sadly, I don't have access to my favorites in order to rec those. Once the site is back up (They are working hard to get it back!) I will try to remember to rec those at that time.

Day 15 gets it's own post. :)

Yay! I met my goal to post all of these. Also to post more in general.

Day 15

In your own space, create your own challenge. What’s something you want to see more people doing in fandom? Is there something fun you’ve tried that you think other people would enjoy if they gave it a go? Dare your friends to try it out, and have fun with it.

I would love to see more group type fics. Where two or more authors write alternating chapters of the same fic.

Some friends ([livejournal.com profile] guernica_shaw & [livejournal.com profile] snegurochka_lee (when she used the moniker "LupinBabe"), [livejournal.com profile] dora_the_nymph and I tried it once over at Knockturn Alley. The link goes directly to the group fic. Which I thoroughly enjoyed doing. It was fun because we had a rough outline, but each of us was free to do what we wanted within it...and then the next person was tasked with either getting the characters out of a situation or steering them into one the author liked better.

It was sooo much fun. And now, is wildly AU since Dumbledore survived...which shows how long ago it was that we worked on it. Sadly, it was never finished. But, it remains one of my fondest memories. I loved collaborating on the fic and how we, every one of us, left the next person with an evil cliffy that they had to get out of.

Good times.

That would be my wish--to collaborate with several of you on a group fic. Each person would contribute a prompt and we would do our best to incorporate all the prompts into the story. Then we would take turns writing.

What do you think?
