I remember reading... years ago... that the fashion industry was quietly changing the sizes on things, that some of the manufacturers were enlarging the sizes because some women will look around until they find the smaller size on the tag regardless of how the measurements go. It can make shopping all the more frustrating when there is no standard for clothes sizes the way there is for a foot or a gallon. (Well, OK, the gallon varies by country, but within the country it's standard.) They should size the way most men's clothes do, by the inch, not by some arbitrary and variable "size."
