Today is the first day of early voting in my state and since I am off (took a random vacation day), I decided to go vote.

I dropped Hubby off at work and headed across the street. One of the early voting locations is very conveniently located.

Since I live in a red state, I brought my tablet with me in order to have a book to read while I waited in line for the place to open. It was a preventative measure.

It's a good thing I did because the stupid in the line, it burns us, precious.

Let's see, there was "you don't really know if your vote counts because: hackers". Which is stupid because:
it's virtually impossible.

See also: "Can't trust computers." "Government can go in and change votes in the computer." "I wish I could see my ballot before and after (FYI--you can)."

Then the always popular: "We're really just voting for a vice president, anyway." Really? Is that how you're justifying voting for the Orange One? If you're voting because you think Pence is a "better" option, you haven't done your homework:
He's scary on woman's & LGBT rights. Very scary.

I would be equally happy with Hillary or Tim Kaine (aka America's Dad) in the presidency.

When the folks in line started talking about how happy they were that people have to show a picture ID here in order to vote, I couldn't keep quiet any longer. I said, "I'm not. It's the most un-American thing I've seen." There were shocked faces and some started to say something about voter fraud and I shut them down. "We have voter registration cards. That's enough. Again, requiring a government ID is against the Constitution.". Then I returned to reading my book, seething inside.

When I was shown to the voting machine and the volunteer was going over how it worked, I said-"You wouldn't believe some of the things I overheard in line about computers." She rolled her eyes and said, "I spend 40% of my time explaining that it's impossible to rig elections." I wished her luck and thanked her and she smiled at me because she realized I was sincere.

I have a feeling she's voting for Hillary, too.

Now, I'm going to try to finish one of my fest stories today and get it off to my beta reader. The HP world should take the bad taste out of my mouth.

YAY YOU FOR VOTING! AND ESPECIALLY YAY YOU FOR CALLING OUT STUPIDITY!

Happy writing, and props for doing your civic duty, even if you had to endure a lot of idiocy.

we do mail in ballots because we live in a red county. i don't think i could stand to wait in line with a bunch of trump talking idiots. it's bad enough with the giant trump billboards and hay bales they've painted. Thanks for alerting me to stay away! I cannot wait for Madam President to finally be elected!

Polls or no, this election scares me. I just can't imagine a country under the rule of that monster. After the second debate, there were a lot of articles talking about the large (WAY too large) number of women who were triggered by Trump's stalking behavior. (Any doubts of Hillary being able to perform under pressure should have been erased by her non-reaction to that beast!) Then I saw a tweet that summed up both candidates.

[paraphrased]
"Remember ladies, if Trump is the face of your rapist, Pence is the judge who let him off."

Kudos to you for not screeching at the lot of them - which I might have - and for voting! I'll be voting either today or tomorrow, whichever day I go to town.

I saw that tweet. Are you on twitter? If so, friend me there, I use the same nickname.

And yeah, he's a monster clown. And deserves to be beaten so badly it drives all those racist assholes who have come out of the woodwork, right back into the walls where the bugs belong.

Not on twitter, saw it reposted on joemygod.com, my favorite site.

But will they go quietly? That's my concern.

I understand your concern. I saw a post on FB that suggested that the president call out the National Guard on election day. To see this happening in this country is astounding and frightening.
