edited to add, I received a most kind and EXTREMELY gracious email from Metamuse which cleared up a lot of my misunderstandings about the validation email I received earlier which I then went off the handle and ranted about here. I am not deleting the entry because I was wrong and I am willing to admit it. I want to apologize to Metamuse and everyone at SH. I will remember how wonderful you all were to a raging lunatic and not be so damned touchy about things in the future.

Got an email from SH today..."correcting" several "errors" in my latest chapter. Now, this chapter has been checked by my word processing program spell-check and grammar check and was beta-ed twice.
There were a couple of things which needed correcting, especially my non-capitalization of "Mudblood" which neither I, nor my betas caught. I am going to have to correct that in my MS Word program so it will auto-correct that particular word.

So, I'm wondering if this has anything to do with my question to them last night regarding validation. This is the FIRST time I have had any chapter sent back to me with ANY corrections since a few canon corrections they asked for in the first chapter. Not to mention, I fucking WON FIRST PLACE in their damned Spring Faire contest...wonder how THAT happened if my punctuation is so bad???
Obviously I was out of my mind. The one had nothing to do with the other.

I'm really pissed off. This is NOT the way to start the day.
I am better now, the day is going quite well, as a matter of fact. I'm wearing my GoF hat and my "Marauders" t-shirt, my HP watch and I brought my HP lunchbox to work today. Getting lots of comments and lots of chances to squee about the book!

I fired back an email with the above (without the cursing and without the last sentence) and now I'm waiting for a reply. If they insist, I may just have to pull the story and all of my other stories from that archive. This is a petty revenge response, in my opinion.
Hey, I know my writing isn't perfect, but there's NO WAY that more than six punctuation and/or capitalization "mistakes" were missed by me or my betas.
Again, I can only plead temporary insanity. And I did delete my final, arrogant "Fuck them, I'm pissed. It was uncalled for and I should know better than to write in this thing when I'm mad.

The latest chapter is live at SH:

For something I have written! I won first place in the Sycophant Hex Spring Faire fanfic contest in the PWP (that's Porn Without Plot for those who don't know) catagory. I am posting the link to the fic, please read and review.

For those family members and friends reading this journal, please be advised this little fic is definately not for the timid or easily embarrassed. Also, you may have to register with the site to read it.

I decided to enter the KA Christmas fic challenge and had what I thought was a brilliant idea! I would do a variation of "A Christmas Carol" using the Hogwarts characters. I wanted to write a sweet story of redemption. It was all going quite well until tonight.
Tonight, I went over to Occlumency to read the latest installment of KEC when I noticed not one, but TWO other fics based on the Dickens classic.
Needless to say, I was crushed.
Mine is different than both, even though the other authors used Snape in the Scrooge role, just as I have done (I mean, really, who else needs a visit from those Christmas spirits?). But now I'm a bit deflated...and wondering if I should just abandon it all together and begin anew...

Tell me what you think, please.

Sorry I haven't updated recently...my hubby and I spent the weekend in the country, with his folks on the farm. We went over on Thanksgiving day and stayed until this morning. (The kitties were glad to see us when we got home.)

We arrived Thursday at about 1pm, with pecan and apple pies in tow. Hubby's grandfather, mom and dad and us were the only ones here...his brother spent the day at his girlfriend's house with her family.

We had a fried turkey, cornbread stuffing, dumplings, greenbean salad, cranberry jello salad, corn (from the garden), turnip greens, turnips, gravy and pie...I think that was everything..oh wait, there was sourdough bread and rolls, too. I didn't eat anything green...lol. OH and surprise of surprises...my MIL actually complimented me on my apple pie...saying it looked just like the ones you see on TV and that she loved how my pies taste!!! I almost fell over in a dead faint of shock. The pecan pie was a success this year---not like last year's disaster.

After dinner (around 1:30ish) we gathered around and watched football and chatted. It was real nice, even though I missed the chaos that is "my" family's Thanksgiving dinner. And I completely forgot to call my mother's house--luckily I had spoken to my son, sister and mother already. My daughter did not call me (no surprise there) and I didn't hear from my dad or my brother, either.

Friday morning hubby and I got up early and went to the nearby outlet mall. He dropped me off then he braved Wal-Mart. Then we met up again and wandered the mall. We had some success, and are actually about 3/4 done with our Christmas shopping.

Hubby's brother brought his g/f and her daughter over that afternoon, so it was busy there talking, and just having fun. Friday night we played the LOTR version of Monopoly with hubby's brother and his girlfriend--and shock! I actually won. We had a blast.

Saturday was my FIL's birthday. We got him a "Tennessee" (the Volunteers) mug and $20 worth of gift certificates to Cracker Barrel. He also got a cordless drill from his other son, a new wedding ring from his wife and assorted small gifts from his sisters. Another surprise was that his sisters actually came over (there is bad feeling between them and his wife) and stayed for cake and ice cream. My FIL was so touched! He is a very soft-spoken, humble man who does not put himself forward much--and I think he loved being the center of attention.
Later that night, some friends of my hubby's came over and we played "Cranium" which is a hilariously fun game...hubby and I won! We stayed overnight again. It was quite chilly and we really enjoyed our stay.

Once we got home, I went to the grocery store and bought a turkey breast and I roasted it today. I also made stuffing and all the fixin's so we have our turkey leftovers, too.

I hope all of my LJ friends (and everyone else) had a good weekend. Back to work tomorrow...

Oh, and I posted the latest installment of "The Binding..." and you can read it here:
