I'm taking vacation from 8/15-8/17 from work. Not doing much...staying home and writing fanfic (including Voldemort!Harry/Bellatrix--OMG the bunny came to me and it's hawt, and finally commiting the next chapter of my HG/SS fic to computer and beta).

I'm also going to be making and freezing food (lasagna, casserole, shepherd's pie among other things) for after the surgery so we don't either starve or spend too much on take out food since my hubby cannot cook. Any ideas for meals that can be prepared in advance and frozen would be welcome.

My cats have decided they don't like the canned food I've been feeding them for months...nor any of the substitutes I've tried...so far they have turned their collective noses up at Fancy Feast, Sheba and Meow Mix Market Selects. I am trying the envelopes next...and if they don't eat it then they are getting kibble and that's it.

Hubby may have an abcessed tooth. He won't go see a dentist until he's off next week...so I'm going to be stuck with a moaning man...ugh.

Guess that's about it for now. Gods, I'm boring.

I made a spinach quiche when I was pregnant. It reheated better than I would have expected and I ate it piece by piece. It was nice. Good luck with the surgery, Ray!!

And see what you find; they are quite helpful for me when I have a brain block. Casseroles are tough for me, though...hubby hates 'em. OH, and I know G doesn't cook, but the 'Impossible' recipes on the back of Bisquick, are pretty fool-proof, and fast. There are lots of variations on the Betty Crocker site, for the Bisquick, too.

Let me tell you how bad it is...I asked him to put a pan of biscuits into the oven and he burned his finger.

Seriously. He's impossible. Thanks for the links!

Ratatouille, chili, spaghetti sauce, soup and quiche. Or, easier yet, the crustless quiche that I make. You can alter the ingredients in many ways, including the number of eggs and amount of cream you use. It doesn't seem to make a lot of difference.

4 cups filling - this can be anything: 2 cups of fresh broccoli (steamed for 2 minutes first), 1 cup of green pepper and 1 cup of onion; 2 cups of chicken cubes, 1 cup of mushrooms, 1 cup of bacon bits; 2 cups of popcorn shrimp, 2 cups of asparagus tips; 3 cups of cooked hamburg, one cup of chopped green chilies - whatever

4 cups of shredded cheese - your choice

Mix in a casserole dish big enough to hold it all.

Beat 6 eggs with a cup of cream and pour over the top.

Cook at 350 for an hour or more, depending on how long it takes.

Cut in wedges and freeze.
