Calm before the storm

So, last Friday...hubby and I made an offer on a house.
And we spent the rest of the weekend stretched as tightly as a bow string waiting to hear back from our agent. Finally, on Sunday at around 2 pm, he called and said we had a verbal agreement from the seller.
Well, it seemed to us that a verbal agreement isn't worth the paper it's written on and so we waited some more to hear that he had signed the contract.
And waited, and waited.
Stressing.
Finally, last night, our agent called again to tell us the contract was signed! (The seller had been out of town--what, he never heard of a fax machine?)
So, next up is the home inspection. Which we expect this place to pass with flying colors.
Tonight, we went out to dinner at our favorite restaurant to celebrate. :) And de-stress with a couple of glasses of wine.
The closing is set for 10/20...the day before our 9th wedding anniversary. And our loan officer at the bank told us we've locked in 5.375% interest...which is a full percentage point lower than we got on the first place.
So...serendipity seems to be at work here. We are big fans of it since it has been at work for us from the beginning of our relationship.
So very happy. So very excited.
Hubby still hasn't told his parents that we are buying a house in town rather than building in the country...which is a bit troubling. But, he will have to before long since some of our stuff is stored at their place.
That's for the near future. Right now, we're just enjoying the calm before the storm.
