Road Trip!!
Oct. 22nd, 2005 07:41 amLast night, we went out to dinner and spent a lovely hour just talking and laughing and enjoying our meal. Then we came home and I received my gift. Hubby got a beautiful Churchwarden pipe the night before (like Aragorn smoked in LOTR) with a wooden bowl (beautifully carved--5 years = wood). I received a lovely figurine of a couple dancing called "The Promise". Hubby said "It's not wood, but it looks like it was carved from wood, doesn't it?" and I have to agree. We gave each other cards that made us cry. Then he swept me off to the bedroom...and all I can say to that is DAMN.
Hubby and I have decided to extend our anniversary celebration for the weekend. We are hitting the road in about a half an hour and heading north to a town called Rugby. "...founded in 1880 by British author and social reformer, Thomas Hughes. It was to be a cooperative, class-free, agricultural community for younger sons of English gentry and others wishing to start life anew in America."
Read about and see pictures of Rugby, TN
We meant to go back in July on our way back from Beth and Jack's wedding, but because hubby's best friend's dad died, we had to go straight home. We are really looking forward to seeing the lovely Victorian buildings and having lunch in the pub. We are taking some clothes so we can spend the night if we want to, but we are really leaving things very loose. I love being spontaneous!
I'll have a full report with pictures when we get back.
