She's gone.

My Aunt Nancy in CT died this morning. She didn't even make it out of the hospital to her home.

My sister was in route to the hospital. She didn't make it in time.

My father is devastated, as I knew he would be. I've spoken to him twice today.

So are we all. She was one of the good ones.

Now, she's with her parents and friends, drinking beer, smoking and playing cards.

I'll miss her.

Oh, my, that was quick. A mixed blessing, to be sure. I'm so sorry you didn't have one last visit, but glad she didn't have prolonged suffering. Either way, it sucks, and I don't supposed we ever get used to it.

You're right. And, the older I get, the more often this is going to happen. This one is just the beginning. :( The circle of life, right? Sometimes it's a bulls eye.
