Something good for a change.

Last night, after hearing from my mom that the doctors told my brother that my SIL has 3-6 months left and they have finally agreed to help from Hospice, I needed cheering up.
So, I watched the gag reels from both Iron Man 3 and Thor 2.
Then I got onto Netflix and watched the entire first season of Red Dwarf. In my opinion, one of the funniest shows ever made. The third episode in the first season is titled Balance of Power, and, even though the Wikipedia entry states that this is not considered one of the better episodes, it has what I consider to be one of the funniest exchanges between Lister and Rimmer EVER. (The site the following link goes to makes you watch an ad or five, run the vid to 18:34 and watch the next three minutes):
"Okay is not a threat, not matter how may 'aaaayyyys' you put in."
That exchange always makes me laugh.
Then there's Danny John-Jules as Cat. Especially in the early seasons, he acted just like a cat...seemingly indifferent, nattily dressed, concerned more with how he looks than anything else. ("I'm looking good! My hair is good, my suit is good...I'm just good." Ten seconds later: "How am I looking now?" Pulls mirror out of pocket. "Still good!")
In episode 5, "Confidence and Paranoia" there's a scene where Cat is eating, playing with his food just like a real cat might. And when Rimmer comes and asks for his help, Cat pretends to follow, but goes back to eating instead. And, in one of the best episodes, Parallel Universe, there is a song and dance sung by Danny called "Tongue Tied" (the vid on YouTube is very pixelated, but I couldn't find another link to it, sorry) which actually hit #17 on the UK charts.
Anyway, enough gushing, (wait! Another great episode is Gunmen of the Apocalypse in which our heroes go into a video game type environment in order to save Kryten.)
Okay, really, I'm stopping now. Only I've decided to watch all the seasons available on Netflix (through season 9, season 10 was just last year, so who knows when it'll be available). There's also gag reels out there called "Smeg ups and Smeg outs" which I own and is hysterical.
So, that sent me to bed in a relatively good mood.
Today, I got the full spa treatment from my wonderful stylist, roots, blue streaks and pedicure. Hubby tagged along and got his hair cut a bit shorter. It's chin-length now and layered. It looks good. My stylist squeezed his haircut in after doing my foils for the blue, while I was soaking my feet. When he was finished, he left to run some errands and she was just styling my hair when he got back. He finally bought his PS4 that he's wanted.
We went to lunch at a Mexican place, then came home. I'm getting the laundry out of the way while he plays with his new gaming system. We had lunch late enough that we probably won't need dinner and will just graze tonight. We also talked about adding another day to the time we took off in May. We're going to see Arcade Fire, we took the following day (Friday) off and decided to try for the Monday after as well so we can take a weekend trip to Gatlinburg. We need to see mountains, Gandolf, and Smoky Mountain National Park fits the bill.
He's promised me breakfast out tomorrow--and I won't have any chores, so yay. He wants to go to the pub, I wouldn't mind a change. We'll see. It will depend on how late we are up tonight, I suppose.
Small health update: Pain meds helping immensely. I am going to work on Monday and hope to make it through the week as long as the pain doesn't get worse.
Well, first two loads are done, I need to get folding. Thought you all needed a break from all my gloom and doom posts lately.
