Getting ready to ditch LJ

Apparently I've had this account for ages, I've just never used it. I'm fooling around with it, just in case LJ fucks me over. I need to find all of my LJ friends and comms that are here. That's the trouble, you see. How many people have DW, how many have IJ, how many will move, how many will stay?

I hate corporations. Soulless, money-grubbing bastards.

I primarily post on this DW account. I crosspost only fannish stuff, with closed comments, to LJ. I have an IJ, but I don't use it outside of fests.

I completely agree with this post. I had IJ for a while some years ago but I ended up closing that account because I didn't like it there. I didn't like the whole 'insane' terminology there, the mascot was creeping me out and I definitely didn't like the heavy hero-worship of the site admin. I like DreamWidth a lot better, and that's the only place I crosspost to now. If forced to leave LJ, that's where I will go.

I guess I don't see the issue just yet... LJ's done a lot of boneheaded things in the past, but I couldn't tell from the article what exactly would be changing for the avg. user - it was mostly stuff about communities, which doesn't faze me as I don't belong to that many. :)

I got the feeling from the article that LJ is trying to model itself after MySpace and FB. There's a reason I avoid those two sites and cling to LJ.

If my own little corner of LJ doesn't change too much, I'm sure I'll keep on keeping on right here. But, it doesn't hurt to be prepared.
