Okay, first of all, it's not right that Kenny Mayne's team was the first one eliminated. I mean, at least he tried. Hopefully, next week the lead-footed rap mogul will get what's coming to him.

I love my new crockpot. I haven't had one in years and I finally bought one last week. I made a delicious cranberry-orange turkey breast last week and I'm going to make BBQ pork today. YUM.

I listed a bunch of stuff on Ebay. There's plus-size clothing, HP ornaments and a bunch of other assorted stuff.

My son and his fiance are seriously considering moving here. He called yesterday to tell me that because the cost of housing in South Florida has basically gone crazy and his apartment complex is "going condo," they have looked around and don't think they can afford to live there anymore. So, yay...maybe. They want to come up and have a look around. It's not just them, his fiance's mom and stepfather are thinking the same thing.

We had snow flurries yesterday. (And I know many of my f-listers have had actual snow, and lots of it, but hey, give me a break, okay?)

I only have three more weeks to win Powerball before I have to go back to work.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those poor miners in WV today. I hope that they find peace.

If this latest news out of Washington regarding Abramoff doesn't wake people up, nothing short of our Fearless Leader being caught on tape with his pants around his ankles and someone's lips around his cock will. (And yes, I squicked myself out with that image, too. EW.)

X-Play is one of the consistantly funniest, smartest shows on television. I only occasionally play Heroes of Might and Magic IV, on my PC, but damn. I love this show. Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb have wonderful chemistry and give their reviews with just the right combination of information and snark. Smart, funny and with reviews that my hubby tells me are spot-on, this show is one we try not to miss. (God, we're geeks.)

I want to re-read Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince again, but I disliked it so much the first time, I haven't picked it up since I finished it in June. I think this was my least favorite of all the HP books. *sigh*

Thanks for the good thoughts, Ray. A close friend is arriving tonight - service is tomorrow. The main focus will be the slide show set to music, the food is pot-luck and then there will be dancing to some of her favorite music.

My sister arrives from the other side of the country next week for a two week hug visit. She's the best.

They laid off about a third of the people at work, several with more seniority than me. They tell me I'm safe - for now. (And that's exactly how they put it!)

Hope everything goes well for you today. I'm glad your sister is coming to visit--I know how therapudic a sister can be! Mine certainly is.

I thought JKR made a mistake with using the tired old "No one believes anything Harry says" plot line yet again. I mean, after five years of being thought wrong and proven right again and again...why would ANYONE, but especially his best friends and mentor NOT believe what he tells them about things? I thought it was really unlikely that Dumbledore would not know what Draco was up to.

Speaking of Draco, I also found it unlikely that Narcissa would leave him at Hogwarts, in spite of what the Dark Lord wanted. JKR should know how a mother would react to her child being put in to that kind of danger...which she tried to address with the "Unbreakable Vow" at the beginning, but I didn't buy it that Narcissa would go to those lengths and then just leave Draco at school and the mercy of the Dark Lord.

I (of course) hated that Snape killed Dumbledore and especially because I feel that it was all pre-arranged. I hated Slughorn as a character and a teacher. I thought the whole idea of Stan being chucked into Azkaban was ridiculous and that the Ministry wouldn't release him to get Harry's endorsement unbelieveable. Like you, I thought the Lupin/Tonks pairing was sort of thrown in there willy-nilly without any previous hints that there was warm feelings on either side. (And I hate to say it, but I agree that it was done to try to stop the whole "Lupin is gay" thing going on in fandom.) I didn't like it that the kids didn't keep up with the "DA". I hated the whole "Won-Won" thing. The sixteen-year-olds that I know don't talk or act like that...

I'm sure there's more, but I guess you get the idea.

Eep, sorry, lost this somehow! Very good points, though, and even though I generally liked the book, I completely see what you mean on all these points. Good food for thought! :) Hopefully book 7 will be more satisfying for you.
