I went to a store today that offers "plus-size" clothing. Hubby had bought me a gift card. To say I was doubtful I'd find anything that would fit me is understating things.

I pulled a few blouses and headed back to the fitting room.

Several fit...and even looked good! I was stunned. And a WAAY smaller size than I expected.

The salesgirl asked about trousers...I said well, really want jeans, but don't think you'll have anything in my size as am VERY pear shaped at the moment.

She went out and found two pair...and the smaller pair actually fit. I was practically dancing in the fitting room. It was amazing what a difference clothing that fits can make.

I am down 45 and my goal is 55 more. Then an additional 15 and I will be satisfied.

I am sooo happy right now. :D

Yay! It is always so liberating when one realizes they are shrinking. I will admit for the most part my brain has yet to catch up with my body. I am down over 200 and would like to lose another 50.

congrats- re size numbers - ignore them. I bought three pairs of trousers at the thrift shop Friday. Ann Klein, Calvin Kline and Simon Chang. SIzes 12, 14, and 16 respectively - they all fit me nicely. Get this - when you take a measurement of the waists - the 16 is the smallest, followed by the 14 and 12. The 12 is a good 2 inches larger than the 16.

I remember reading... years ago... that the fashion industry was quietly changing the sizes on things, that some of the manufacturers were enlarging the sizes because some women will look around until they find the smaller size on the tag regardless of how the measurements go. It can make shopping all the more frustrating when there is no standard for clothes sizes the way there is for a foot or a gallon. (Well, OK, the gallon varies by country, but within the country it's standard.) They should size the way most men's clothes do, by the inch, not by some arbitrary and variable "size."

Yes, I agree. I'm sure the 26W was larger in this particular store, even knowing that, I don't mind because it was still smaller than anything I've been able to wear in the last ten years. :)

I try not to look at the numbers, but I need *something* to go by when I'm shopping online--so this trip was actually helpful for me.

Now, if only I could find sexy bras (shelf/demi) in larger than 44...
